Create an Item without Tracking Inventory Amounts

An item can be created without tracking inventory amounts for products or fees that do not require quantity tracking, such as wrapping. This option allows items such as services, supplies, or add‑on charges to be added to invoices without affecting inventory counts.

Note: Gift Certificates have an additional setting that must be enabled for proper handling. Please see Handling Gift Certificates/Vouchers for more information.

 From the sidebar navigation, click Products, then Product List.

1. From the product list toolbar, select the new product button.
2. Assign the item a Part number and give it a Description.
3. From the Category list drop-down, select the category where you want to place the item.
4. In the Retail/Cost field, enter a fixed amount if you charge a fixed fee; otherwise, leave it at 0 and add the amount to the invoice during the sale.
5. Select the No Inventory checkbox to mark the item for no inventory tracking.
6. From the product profile toolbar, select the save button then choose Save.
