Send individual or group emails directly from Boulevard to contacts with an email address on file. Emails can be started from several areas of the platform and sent using your connected email account, with each message tracked in the contact log of their profile for reference.
To protect each recipient's privacy, email messages will always be sent individually (even when sending one email to multiple recipients). You will receive a copy of each email as a record of the message sent. We recommend setting up mail rules in your email application if you'd like to keep them grouped together.
Before proceeding, ensure you have added your email address in the Email Settings field in Preferences.
Locations:
Contact List
Select the filter button
then choose Filter from the drop-down options to apply any filters (See Customize the Contact List for more information on filter options). Select the checkbox next to one or more contacts, then from the toolbar, select the email button
. After adding a message to the email body, select Send.
Profile Slide-out
Select the contact from the contact list. When the profile slide-out appears, select the email address to launch a new message. After adding a message to the body of the email, select Send.
Contact Profile
Choose from one of the following options:
- From the profile toolbar, select the email button
and choose either Primary, Secondary, or Partner. - Under the Contact Information section on the Main tab, select the email button
next to the desired email address. - To send an email with an attached invoice, click on the
Account & Invoices tab and select up to 5 invoices. Then, from the profile toolbar, select the email button
and choose Selected Invoices.
After adding a message to the email body, select Send.
List Builder
From the sidebar navigation, select
Contacts, then List Builder.
From the toolbar, select the drop-down arrow
and choose a list. Select the checkbox next to one or more contacts (or click the checkbox column header to select all), then from the toolbar, select the email button
. After adding a message to the email body, select Send.
Invoice Log
From the sidebar navigation, select
Business Tools, then Invoice Log.
Select the filter button
then choose Filter from the drop-down to apply any filters. Select the checkbox next to one contact (only individual email messages can be sent from the Invoice Log), then from the toolbar, select the email button
. Select Include Payment Link to add a payment link. After adding a message to the email body, select Send.
Notes:
- Ensure that your email signature includes your contact information, including a physical mailing address, to comply with anti-spam laws such as the CAN-SPAM Act (US) and CRTC (Canada) when sending a promotional email.
- To help ensure recipients receive your email, messages will display your First and Last name from Preferences as the sender but will be sent from boulevardonline@mainstsoftware.com. You can recommend that they add boulevardonline@mainstsoftware.com to their address book/contacts if the message ends up in their spam/junk folder. If the recipient replies to the email, it will automatically reply to the email address entered in the Email Settings field in Preferences. If the recipient does not receive your email or the email goes into their spam/junk folder, ensure that they have your email address set in their address book.
- When sending a group email, we advise being careful with the number of messages sent at once to prevent internet service providers from blocking your email address to your intended recipients (also called blacklisting - see below to check if your email is blacklisted). If you need to send large campaigns, we recommend using a professional email marketing service (such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact, SendinBlue, etc.).
