A product’s Taxable and Over‑the‑counter drug (OTC) settings control how it is invoiced and included in inventory orders. Taxable is enabled by default and Over‑the‑counter drug is disabled by default, but both can be changed as needed based on your tax location or requirements. Changes are made on the product profile and apply to all future sales and inventory orders.

From the sidebar navigation, select
Settings, then Preferences.
On the Business Info tab under the Miscellaneous section (or for Canadian users, from the Tax tab), select Set OTC Drug Product as Non-Taxable. When finished, select Save to save and close Preferences.
Disable Taxable Setting For One Item
From the sidebar navigation, select
Products, then Product List.
- Using the Search field, enter a partial description or part number to locate the item (if necessary, select the filter button
then choose Clear Filter to remove any filters set. Or select Filter to further refine when searching). - Double-click on the item to open the product profile.
- If you live in the U.S., under the Pricing section, select the Taxable checkbox to change the setting. If you live in Canada, select the settings button
to open the settings. Select the applicable tax settings, then select Save. - When finished, select the save button
to save and close the form.
